Warner music group advanced its global presence yesterday with the acquisition of, The Gala Records Group. Gala Records is Russia’s first privately own label and the leader of the countries independent music network. The country has been in the hot seat for copyright infringements but have successfully battled infringers in local courts. Of the three largest music groups in the world, Warner was in the position to advance Gala in Russia’s difficult marketplace.
“We are delighted to welcome Gala to the Warner Music family. Russia represents a significant opportunity and with Gala spearheading our operation there, we will be well positioned for growth in this vibrant and dynamic market”, said Warner Music Group CEO, Stephen Cooper in statement.
Led by CEO, Alexaner Blinov, gala was founded in 1988. Gala has produced and worked with Russia’s top artist including, Irina Allegrova, Larissa Dolina, Masha Rasputina, Sektor Gaza, Laima Vaikule, the group strelki, and more.
